The thought of insignificance is a significant one - no pun intended. We experience things only through our own eyes and we know only what our eyes tell us that we see. We hear only what our ears vibrate to tell us that we hear, etc. We know not of the other's existence, but only that we exist and that he exists in our existence.

Our world is as small as our eyes can see and it can grow as we experience and traverse the land. But those small, "irrelevant" things in the scheme of the Earth may not be so irrelevant. I would posit, Andrew, that the irrelevant part of it all is the entire history of the Earth where humans and where life was not present. After all, how can something have happened if no life was around to experience it? We record history like no other living thing and we experience the past, present, and future like nothing else.

If there is a God, he is void of intention or of meddling in our affairs. I can't imagine that a God would ever orchestrate the death of a single one of his followers, nevermind the suffering of innocents (dead babies, for instance). Things are the way that they are - you are you and I am me. We are humans and we have certain things about us. We see things certain ways and we understand things in others. We have what we have and that which we have is this moment. We have no more than now and now is the time - to do what we dream, to smile if we can, and to make sure that no second of any day goes wasted and that each and every person that we encounter is better off for having encountered us, too.

While you may portray things as irrelevant, as if your existence is minute and unimportant, i argue the contrary. We measure things in relation to one another and in that spirit I would argue that your existence is potent and massively important. There are plenty of people in this world that think the way that you do - not all of us are destined to fit smugly in a societal mold - or struggle to squeeze into one - many of us make our own destinies and live life in a different way with different objectives. I know that you can see this and I know that you will see this.

Expand your world - make contact with others, if only to know that the world is not so small as Myrtle Beach and Rhode Island, but that it includes Boston, or Prague, or Canada. And that all human beings, no matter their origins, bear the commonality of the human condition. Help us, as a race, meet our potentiality and settle for no less than what you desire and dream for most.
