What Kind of World Do I Want to Live In?

A fantasy world probably.  A dream state.  A place where we can all just get along.  Where we can live cooperatively instead of competitively.  We can all put down the personas and start working in harmony for a better life.  A less destructive life.  A life that enhances the world we live in today in all aspects.  A world that most elites today would look at and want to vomit.  Equal rights and ultimate freedom.  A world based on love and mutual respect instead of on fear.  A world where the wealth is shared and we can all get what we need to survive.  Where there is no judgment and no guilt.  Where we don’t even have a word for work, just a word for play.  Where even survival activities are looked at as an adventure.  I’m not looking for utopia, because we won’t even need central authority.  All we’ll need is the instincts that have guided us for 3 million years (or more).

Is a world like this even possible?  I think that with time it is.  But we have to want it.  We can’t just stand around the water cooler and talk about what a wonderful life that would be.  We have to move in the direction towards it.  We have to learn to accept other people’s perspectives and work together to form a cohesive unit.  I’m so tired of war and famine.  I’m sick of disease and despair.  I’m so tired of most of the world fetishizing death like it is the worst thing ever.  Why can’t we live in cycles, like nature, like the Bible says in one of their good passages, “Ashes to ashes, dust to dust.”  We can realize that everything here is temporary, but still have a good time living our lives.  We work to help the whole and simultaneously help ourselves.  It may take a few decades or even a few generations, but the most important transition is in our consciousness.

We could become “land dolphins.”  Highly intelligent creatures who live as stewards of the Earth.  I’m not basing this on scientific fact, but I read somewhere that dolphins have a larger brain to body ratio than us humans and you don’t see the ocean floor covered with pavement and strip malls.  Perhaps it is the animals around us that are truly enlightened and we can take some wisdom from them.  Sure, they may not be able to carry on a conversation or write a letter, but they have a language older than words.  Language in the way we think about it is totally unneccessary and they’re able to tune into a higher order and live naturally with the Earth instead of seeing it as something to simply dominate due to the fear of it.

Am I here to remind us of what we already know or have long since forgotten?  I suppose so.  We all remember somewhere that we used to live with much more abundance and much less stress than we currently live with.  The world wasn’t divided up into all these different quadrants and we were free to roam at will.  We could pretty much do whatever we wanted and still have all our needs met.  We knew of all the edible plants and seeds.  We knew how to actually hunt down an animal instead of putting them all in cages.  We were tied to the land we lived on and would never do anything to harm it.  And if we did do something to harm it, it wasn’t because it was intentional.  It was because we didn’t know any better at the time.

But I have hope and I have dreams that the world will once again become the bountiful place it once was.  Will it take a mass extinction?  Maybe.  Will humans have to die out for the Earth to fully heal?  Maybe.  If we keep going on the same track, it is certain that our extinction will be definite.  It’s the whole concept of oneness.  We have to recover our oneness with the Earth for these changes to take place.  We have to spend more time in nature to remember what it felt like, to be home.  How much of our biology is rooted in that home?  It’s a daunting task, but I feel that humanity can surprise themselves from time to time and start giving back to the Earth we’ve taken from.  It will not only benefit the Earth and all its creatures, but will also benefit the human race immensely.
